I really really enjoyed this one, and I'm glad I did, though I want the next installment immediately. This wasn't even on my radar until I saw it one day at work, and just had to pick it up because I felt like I needed another book because I was afraid I would get through all the other books I had and then have nothing to read (I didn't, but sometimes I feel like there needs to be someone standing there telling me no so I don't get more books than I can realistically read.)

I went into this really knowing nothing about it, but I actually really loved it. It was fun and imaginative, and I could see some manga influences in the art style. I liked the worldbuilding and the characters, though I do wish there was a bit more exposition to explore the tension between Tabby and her mom. It seemed they were at odds and that Tabby was dealing with her father's death differently than her mom, and her mom was trying to get her to be more "normal" and move on, but there wasn't room to explore it before the story took off. It was hinted at, but then later it seems like that tension sort of disappeared.

I really enjoyed this, though, and I wanted to read book 2 immediately, though since this one just came out it seems like I'm in for a bit of a wait.

I’m intrigued! The art is lovely and the world is so interesting. I can’t wait to explore it more in the other volumes.

I've been waiting for this to come out for a long time. I read the webcomic as a kid and was OBSESSED, and since then, Amy Kim Kibuishi spent years developing this rich and detailed world and that hard work really shows. Rema is a portal fantasy/scifi about a girl who is transported to another world. It's filled with magic, adventure, and so jaw-droppingly gorgeous scenes. The care taken to develop the lore and culture of the alien world is fantastic. Kibuishi's art style is a joy to look at, I found myself pausing at certain scenes just to take it all in.

I'd suggest it to anyone and everyone! :)

All the things I love: fun, fantasy worlds, superpowers, and magical guys. I adore the shoujo energy here (pretty eyes, longing gazes, female MCs who never stay where they’re supposed to or listen to the male lead, etc). The story here is very fast-paced (and so is the love), but it’s entertaining.

I’m here for book two!
