A nice book. Since realising that I enjoy a slow paced book, preferably set pre 1970, this was a lovely book that felt warm and quite Austen in nature.

I absolutely adored this. I think this is the first book club book that I have been head over heels with.

Incredible sense of real life and never quite getting to the place you want to be. The metaphor of the mistletoe will stay with me for life.

Elements of Nancy Mitford, Barbara Trapaido and Dodie Smith to the writing. Witty, sardonic and sad. Loved it.

I really enjoyed this and am very glad to have discovered Comyns but gosh it's depressing to be in a world where women are so desperately dependant on men, no matter how capable themselves.
