I read this book because I had previously read [b:Apple Tree Yard|17452179|Apple Tree Yard|Louise Doughty|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1371030400l/17452179._SY75_.jpg|24339901] and enjoyed it, but I was a little tentative about getting more of the same. But reading the blurb, I quickly realised this was going to be much different!

One of the complaints in some reviews is that it contains two completely different books, but I enjoyed them both. The initial part of the book is a ghost story about a woman who is haunting Platform 7 at Petersborough train station. We then move into a story of domestic emotional abuse. I experienced a lot of frustration in the domestic abuse section - how could the main character not see what was happening and not do anything about it - but that's the point of domestic abuse stories - to show how people gradually become trapped in abusive relationships and suffer at the hand of gaslighters. The ghost story was original and engrossing.

DID NOT FINISH: 42%

The first 6 chapters were just background and the author just kept repeating the same thing over and over.   Chapters 7 through 12 read like a bad romance. I didn't care about the characters at all. The book is supposed to be a ghost story/mystery it read like a bad romance book.

DNF at 28%.

I decided to DNF this at this point. I'm incredibly bored while reading this and I'm not interested in the characters nor in the storylines. There's so much details about Peterborough train station at the beginning of this and the pace is so slow.
