L'autrice di questo romanzo è una scrittrice di noir/thriller, ed effettivamente questa impronta è presente in questa sua opera, seppure non è quello il genere a cui si può incasellare. Non faccio spoiler nel dire (viene descritto nella quarta di copertina) che la protagonista è un'insegnante trentaseienne la quale ci narra il suo punto di vista della sua morte: beh, sì, perché la narratrice è un fantasma che è rimasto bloccato nella stazione, il binario sette, in cui ha perso la vita. Ma si è suicidata o è stata uccisa? Pian piano lei ricostruisce il suo passato e scopriamo che si era invaghita di un bel dottore, Matthew, il quale all'inizio era gentile e galante, ma lentamente si è rivelato sempre più possessivo e geloso nei suoi confronti.
Ho trovato la prima parte abbastanza lenta nella narrazione (per non dire un po' monotona), mentre la seconda diventa più interessante e avvincente perché seguiamo le indagini sulla sua morte. Non lo so, mi ha lasciato molti mah questa lettura, ho trovato la storia un po' pasticciata, alcune volte noiosa, altre poetica. L'autrice mette in risalto la violenza domestica sulle donne e colpisce anche la storia dei due fratelli abusati dal padre, il quale poi si suicida. Il finale non mi ha convinto molto, avrei pensato che le cose si sarebbero svolte in modo differente. Altri comprimari abbastanza inutili, si poteva evitare di allungare il brodo.
Potrei essere incuriosito nel leggere una sua opera noir, vedremo in futuro.

I listen to the audio book so perhaps it’s a different experience but didn’t like the book, it failed to draw me in and create a compelling enough story for me to want to finish the book.

2.5 because I finished it. I listened to it on the Libby app and there was way too much shoehorned in.
Odd to have so much time dedicated to characters we didn’t really know or need to know anything about.
I think it would have been more appropriate to focus on the main relationship of the story because that was something that should be explored fully and it some how subtracted from that will lots of other ‘bits’ that may have been used to round out the story but fell flat for me unfortunately.

Hated it. The blurb is so misleading and the story so boring. Nothing to like about it at all!
I went into this with the belief that it was a thriller. It isn’t. I went into this with the belief that it is a story investigating the connection between 2 apparent suicides at the same railway station. It isn’t.
On top of that, I found it too slow, too boring. If it weren’t for the fact that I was listening to the audiobook, I would’ve DNF’d it before chapter 10. Not worth the hype.
