It just didn't quite hit what I was expecting going in. Fast paced plot,  fated mates story with fae set in the real world - though the actual relationship is more of a slow burn because of how it plays out.

I liked the concept of how these fated mates work with the heart song and it had a lot of potential. For me, the execution could have been better and I felt let down by how the plot just felt like things happened just have something happen. I think this would have been cooler/more built up if this had been a duology. While reading, I had this thought that would have made me like this a lot more if we could have taken more time with the characters and relationship.

Over all not a terrible book, and perhaps just not one for me.

This was my first Tricia O'Malley book, and it was great! It was super easy to read, and it kept me intrigued. I do wish there was more spice and groveling, but it was great, nonetheless. I read this in about a day, maybe a little less!

Plot: 4/5
Spice: 1/5
Tropes: Fated Mates, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity
Imogen and Nolan were great main characters. I can't wait to read about the other elements.

It’s an interesting story. I did like it but the writing needed finesse. The dialogue often reads like a set up; especially between the protagonists. That is where it failed for me. At times it was stiff and stilted, other times adolescent, still other times it was rushed, and occasionally goofy. It was difficult to get a handle on. Much about the story was convenient and the amount of “resounding cheers” literally written on the page was excessive. Still, there were some good aspects to the story. The FMC doesn’t immediately forgive the MMC when he wrongs her. She bluntly tells him she’s not forgiving him yet and I did love that moment immensely. There were some great passages about loneliness and being an outsider as well as some sweet interactions between the protagonists when they finally come together. It’s slow burn capped with a bit of steam and a very convenient ending.

Nice start

Nice start to a new series. I love how Grace’s Cove and it’s people are continuing in this story. Looking forward to reading more
