This book is excellent. Hylton does an exceptional job mixing personal stories with diligent, detailed research, and presents the reader with such a well-rounded, easy to follow story of the Crownsville Hospital. The book is super accessible and, while the subject matter is really difficult, it is an important story that needed to be told.

Horribly sad and heartbreaking. This is an important well written story that’s impeccably researched, and uncomfortable to read. Black history is American history. Although this book focuses on the treatment of mental health In black Americans the outcomes of that  treatment affects all of our American culture.
