This is a great introduction to Greek myths. My elementary age kids learned a lot about how the stories interact with one another.

This is the one that got me interested in Greek myths. Partly because the illustrations are great and partly because of d'Aulaire's reconstruction of the myths. I would sit and read this in the library over several days at school. I poured over it when I was able to finally take it home. With the exception of Hamilton's Mythology, this is one of the most influential mythology books for me

Children are fascinated by Greek mythology. This is the perfect introduction for young children and will be read and reread over the years.

As a 3rd grader(?) I asked for this book for Christmas and was thrilled to get it. I had favorite stories and the images are ingrained into my head for life. But I don’t think I ever read it cover to cover. Since Reid, in 3rd grade, is also in his Greek God Phase I thought it would be fun to listen to this as our non-fiction 100-300 level pick for our reading challenge.

Reid: “Nonfiction means true right? Greek Myths are not true why are they considered nonfiction?” - This astute point cracked me up!

The audio version was read by Kathleen Turner, Paul Newman, Mathew Broderick and Sydney Poitier. They did an okay job but it kind of felt like they were reading it for the first time. Reid loved it though and could draw parallels from all the Rick Riorden Books he has consumed this year. I did too. It was actually fun spotting the stories they pulled from. The book gives great concise kid friendly versions of the stories and makes me want to read more. (The Odyssey or some Stephen Fry maybe?)
