A surrealist depiction of the relationship between the author and a woman named Nadja. The novel is narrated in an almost stream of consciousness manner, and there is no clear timeline or distinction between the events occurring or the ones that already occurred.

"Who goes there? Is it you, Nadja? Is it true that the beyond, that everything beyond is here in this life? I can't hear you. Who goes there? Is it only me? Is it myself?"

“perhaps I am doomed to retrace my steps under the illusion that I am exploring, doomed to try and learn what I should simply recognise, learning a mere fraction of what I have forgotten.”

will read this again when i feel old and lost and not capable of thoughts. i went over so many words and sentences again and again while reading, just so surprised. it reminds me of what my mind occupies itself with when painting. not thinking about what to put where on the canvas but what to say at all with it, what do i want to say that has to be said in brushstrokes, in building up, not in words. i dont know. am rambling. definitely read this if youre a person that journals. i think those people will love this even more.
fast-paced

Still struggling to know how I feel about this book. Nadja the manic pixie dream girl. All of Breton's unconscious was so palpable and always obscuring the one I wanted to get close to. I admire his ambition. It did excite me, yet I was left quite disappointed, not least by such a heartless and flat ending. Maybe he's reached closer to his ambition in his later writings? Or maybe I went in too naive, and will have a better experience returning to it after a few years.

No! The first 60 pages are great, but after that… my god I was bored out of my brains out!!! This book just reinforced my hate of surrealism
