Amor Towles is what an established critic would call a “master storyteller.” And I would say, “Indeed.”

This was a slow start for me, but I started really liking the book at about the half way point and it really won me over by the end.

The beginning and ending were strong and raised my overall rating for the book. The beginning and ending were wholesome, heartwarming, and well-written.

However, without such a strong beginning and ending, this would have been a 1 or 2 star read. Unfortunately, the entire middle section was verbose and uninteresting. Truly, the middle could have been greatly condensed.
