I received this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review.

Nobody’s Hero is a short story by Scottish author Roz Marshall, based in Hugh Howey’s Half Way Home universe. I’ve been following her Secrets in the Snow series for a while now, and have grown to absolutely love her work, so I was very excited to read something in a slightly different vein.

The story follows Peter and Mira, two minor characters from Half Way Home, after their escape from their colony. In only 22 pages, I was completely hooked into the world and grew very attached to these two characters. The story was vivid and everything was beautifully described.

I would definitely recommend this story, but I’d also recommend that you read Half Way Home first, if you haven’t already. I could follow the story well enough and easily picked up on the background, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I really knew the world they were living in and what had driven them to escape.
