Sweet

This was a really low-angst, sweet read. I'm a huge Drew and Fable fan so anything that gets me back to their world is good for me. Wade and Sydney were a good couple. I appreciated the fact that even though they were young they didn't do a lot of the stupid things that often happen in books with young characters. They were both pretty upfront with each other about their pasts which was refreshing. All that being said, it felt like there were a lot of loose ends that never got tied up. I would have liked to hear what choices Sydney made about her future, how Wade did on the team, what happened with the blogger. I think it ended too soon. I did love the bonus scene with Drew and Fable though!

I have previous read Monica Murphy's series The Rules. I hadn't read her series for One Week Girlfriend series. "Safe Bet" was a mashed up of both series. While, I haven't read the other series it didn't take away for the book. The book had back stories which allowed me to be get caught with the storyline. The story centered more around Sydney's job as a nanny with Fable and Drew. Murphy didn't explore the relationship of Sydney and Wade which is a disappointment for the book. I enjoyed reading the "Safe Bet", it wasn't my favorite out of the The Rules series. If you're looking for a cute romance novel that's a fast read "Safe Bet" is your choice!

Maybe I ought to have read the first three books of the Rules series and maybe I ought to have read the other series One Week Girlfriend before I read this one but I didn't feel like I missed much to follow this book.

I really liked Sydney Walker. Even if she described herself before as a spoiled girl who just got everything she ever wanted before her dad cut her off, it's hard to see that when you read this book. She is trying to prove herself throughout the book while taking on a job that she has no qualification for. Being a nanny might not have been what she dreamed of, but she made the best of it and. She is determined to make it everything right and prove to her parents she can actually do something right.

Wade Knox is a nice guy. End of the story. I loved him from the beginning. He doesn't go for drama, he doesn't act like a manwhore and he is just really dedicated to his football career. It was a nice change to read about a guy like him. He loves his mother more than anything and everything he does, he does for her even if they don't see each other often, you can tell how much she means to him.

I liked that their relationship wasn’t suddenly spontaneous. Yes, there were chemistry between them, but they didn’t dive in right away; I felt like they took their time; got to know each other. With the fake relationship created by Fable to try to take some heat off of the rumoured affair, the two of them spent a few days together and spent most of it just getting to know one another. If neither of them is looking for a relationship as they both deal with other priorities, neither can deny there is something between them.

Overall, this was a quick read that I enjoyed very much. I’m looking forward to read the beginning of both series and get to know more in depth the story of the other characters.

I was giving an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I don't really get why it's added to the serie. The connection to the earlier characters is almost non-existing or not really important to the story. Also the build-up is totally different.

This is just an easy cheesy and predictable romance.

Im a huge fan of The Rules series and couldn't wait for this fourth instalment to come out. I've never read the One Week Girlfriend series so I was curious to see if I would enjoy this book as much as the others since it is a crossover.
Even though I haven't read OWG series I feel like the plot to this story was unoriginal and just plain recycled from OWG. I just wished she had did something different with the plot than to give us yet again a fake one week relationship.
I understand that this book was for the fans but I was left disappointed. I feel like Monica wasn't really invested in writing this book. Not to say it was a horrible book, I enjoyed it for the most part but I didn't love it and maybe it had to do with some of the unrealistic aspects to the storyline. I also had a hard time connecting with the characters in this book except for two. One positive thing about this story was that I was drawn to Fable and Drew and have now added OWG to my TBR pile. Im hoping i'll enjoy it more than Safe Bet which I'm sure I will since it is the original "fake one week relationship" and I feel like there is some more dept to their story.

It was shorter than the last three but I was so into the book. I always love a fake relationship and can't help but love it.

Can you fall in love with someone in a week? I guess. Did I care about the characters at all? Guess not.

Sydney's character made no sense. Like she goes from 100 to 0 (according to her). From party girl to responsible nanny in a span of... not long? I mean, come on... She's older than me, yet I've known for YEARS that I can't just live off of my mom forever. That fact that she thought—

She strikes again! Monica Murphy brings brings yet another amazing read. What more? I'm obsessed with her books. Like all of Ms. Murphy's books, Safe Bet follow amazing characters and has a wonderful story to be told. Wade is awesome! Like, seriously. I love sports romances, especially football (and baseball). You might remember Wade from Drew+Fable days, which is clever. When I recognize a side character from another book, and they now have his or her own book/story, and I if I enjoyed that character, I always go after them. Sydney is a great character as well.

Perhaps I am a bit biased, but I mean it when I say that I will never get enough of Ms. Murphy's books. I haven't read the One Week Girlfriend series, but knowing this book meshes characters from over there, I totally have to go check that series out as well.
