Rereading twilight for the first time in over 10 years. I'm so nostalgic I love it. Like this is trash, the writing is weak, and Bella can't stop thinking about how she's not like other girls. Everything is so toxic and immature...but I love it

Yes... this book, one of the defining pieces of 2000s YA literature, is trash. The writing is poor. The main character is not only an idiot, but she chronically suffers from “I’m not like the other girls” syndrome and “I can’t walk 5 feet without my vampire boyfriend holding me upright or I’ll trip over absolutely nothing and fall down”. In fact, I think this book may have been the catalyst for all of the future YA protagonists who are just simply not like the other girls. The characters and dialogue are ridiculously cringey. The insta love is so rushed the characters are ready to die for each other before they’ve barely had a first date. The list of faults go on and on, but so does my love for this series.

My first experience reading this really sparked my love for reading. This series makes up the first books I ever bought for my collection. I made so many friends who shared my love of reading through this book and I have so many good memories attatched to these pages.

Rereading this just made me realize how much nostalgia I have surrounding this world, these characters, and this story. Even though this is objectively bad, you have to admit that it is pretty damn entertaining.

(P.S. Always have and always will be team Edward)

“About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was part of him — and I didn't know how potent that part might be — that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”
