informative inspiring fast-paced

This book nailed me right to the T, but I didn't see myself in this way. Strengths are a great way to look instead of my weaknesses.

I have found this extremely helpful as a tool for people who report to me at work... It's like getting to know 5 years worth of strengths in like 20 minutes. Very helpful in appreciating the incredible resources available right in the office.

Also, as an insight into family members... wow! It basically just articulates what you kind of knew already but didn't quite have words for.

Pretty cool test to figure out what your strengths are. My top 5 were pretty spot on! I liked that it gives you suggestions on how to work with other personality types. Definitely more worthwhile than Myers Briggs.
informative reflective fast-paced

This is a really big fad book. It's good for self-reflection. I'd be more interested if 5 professional colleagues, followed by 5 close friends filled out the questionnaire about me. This would give me a better understanding of how I see myself, and how I am perceived both at work and at home. I also understand it's normal to fluctuate around depending on your comfort levels and experiences on your current job. It's an interesting piece to keep up on, but not worth long time investment in my mind.

Not what I expected. I had hoped it would walk you through your specific strengths and give more of a description on what kinds of work environments may be good for you or groups of people to work with. It just gave me my 5 descriptors and their descriptions, boring.

Despite what seems to be suggested in the synopsis, this book won’t directly help you determine what your strengths are (you’d have to pay for the online assessment for that). What this book will do is provide you with a short description of each strength as well as a few anecdotal examples of what that might look like in real life and tips for either yourself (if it’s one of your strengths) or for dealing with your coworker (if it’s one of theirs).

I had high hopes for this book but I'm somewhat dissatisfied. Actually it's just an access code for an online personality test (which didn't turn out to be very accurate in my case) accompanied by some info on each of the 34 talents.

Assigned to my students.
