The concept of academia in this book intrigued me initially, with its vibes, world-building, and the aspect of tarot cards. However, these elements seemed to be left behind as the story progressed. Although I enjoyed the flowy writing style, I found it difficult to get into the plot. The characters discussed the concept of cards extensively, but didn't explain why they were interested in them beyond one character's obsession. The book focused heavily on character drama, which became tiring to read. Additionally, many of the twists weren't surprising since some could be guessed while reading.

Ann was so naive and annoying. She really can't stand herself. I know she has trauma, but closing yourself off until you become oblivious was not a good move. Rachel, on the other hand, is using this to control her into some toxic friendships. The other characters, honestly, I don't care about them, but they are at least a lot better than these two girls.

Before I read this, I was really hoping for a good mystery surrounding academia and how dark it is, but I don't expect this to come anywhere close to that. Also, the ending was a little too convenient for my liking that I felt unsatisfied when I finished it.

Not the best book I’ve read from the dark academia genre. Generally well written but the characters felt a bit flat and the dialogue lapses into cliche at times. That said, the plot had enough twists and turns to keep me compelled enough to finish it.

Beguiling and atmospheric but ultimately a bit inevitable.

3.5 Didn't really know what to expect with this one other than it being a dark academia situation. Had a good time reading it, not my favorite but still a good time.
