This is a cute love story, featuring a very authentic modern teenager.

Written in diary format, this covers an eventful six months in Phoebe's life. At first, given some of the things she says and thinks, I thought we were heading for a realisation of asexuality. However, she's just a nervous teen with a crush.

The writing style is light and fun. Although I don't agree with everything Phoebe did, her reasons are always clear and she's always consistent. The ending made me wonder if there might be another book planned for this series - I hope so! I'd love to read more of these characters.

All in all a great read, one I heartily recommend.

this book is so cute! i wasn’t expecting it to be written in diary font, but it was actually really good. Phoebe, the narrator, is very witty and made me laugh out loud a few times. a very cute, easy to read, queer book

"Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken" - Shakespeare, Sonnet 116.

It's an adorable LGBTQ+ love story featuring a very authentic modern teenager who is unconnected to her emotions.

Phoebe is 15 going on 16, whose a cynic & does not see the value of love. She thinks "love is for losers", hence the title. When her best friend Polly starts dating a boy, she feels like she has lost her friend & a part of her life since they were BFFs. Her father died before she was born & her mother is always away trying to save the world, so she often stays with her godmother, Kate. That's where this story primarily takes place. At Kate's, Kate's thrift store & her school.

Our protagonist has a fun, spunky voice that teens will surely relate to & love. She's a bit unusual & maybe a little bit of an outcast, but her quirkiness is what lured me closer to her. I liked her sense of dry humour & the way she tells it like it is. The book is told in a diary form, but we get dialogue to have character familiarity. The short & punchy diary-style of writing is easy & quick to read, & the characters all feel genuine & authentic. It feels like a teenager wrote it. Although I sometimes didn't always agree with Phoebe in her ideas, it was nice to see how a young person in today's society grapples with life & figuring out who they are.

If you're a fan of hilarious stories about queer love, you need to pick up a copy of this & fall in love…or not.

Tbh the only good thing about this book is the diary-type writing style. I DNF this as it cringed so hard I couldn't carry on

What a random book. The format is written in diary entries which I thought would really annoy me. I actually didn't mind it.

Pheobe comes across a bit dramatic and abrasive but for the most part I found her hilarious and genuinely relatable.

The cover is ridiculous. Can't really explain how much I love it. This was just an all around unexpected bit of fun!

I loved this book! Very easy read and I loved how terrible and real and honest the main character was. My only complaint is that she had so many mommy issues and it was just dropped in the end. Not even a okay I’ll deal with this later. Was just kind of brushed aside. Other than that good book! Loved the setting!
