I loved the idea of a collection of poems written over the years on the Sabbath - you can feel the flow of the seasons and years as you read these poems - I would have loved to have the actual dates on more of them. Many about farm life, walks in the woods, love, aging and the destruction of the environment. Although a few of the poems I loved there was a quality that I could not quite put my finger on - I found I was not present within nature - it felt more observational than participatory.

World’s longest slow and steady read. Love Wendell Berry but I should have DNF’d this a long time ago.

I think I'll let this one go from my collection. I really like Wendell Berry, but there were times I thought I'd never finish this book. I like the idea of writing poetry after a walk every Sabbath, and I especially loved his wedding anniversary poems, but it was a little too much of the same (nearly 400 pages).

It's good, I love Wendell Berry! I just read a tiny bit of the ebook and then drifted to other things

I adore Wendell Berry. His poetry is grounded and honest and simple and rich. His faith seeps through his symbolism and his love for the Creator and creation are evident in every word, and I enjoyed this collection of old and new-to-me poems immensely.

i don't know how to describe this collection in words. it's so good. these poems are the perfect size to read a few a day and make your way slowly through. this is a book that i took with me to go hiking because it just begged to be read in the trees.

Loved slowly reading this mammoth-sized poetry collection over the last six months! Now I feel like I can finally dive into Berry's other works, because you know I've been stockpiling his books when I find them as soon as I heard what he's about..my man!!
