The 6th book in the Bridgerton series I've read. I enjoyed this one, and it is one of my favourites that I've read so far.  A quick and easy read. The story is of Francesca, who loves her husband, John. He dies unexpectedly, and she mourns him. She loses her child but desperately wants a child, so she decides to remarry. Michael is Johns cousin and has been in love with Francesca since he's known her. Micharl is known as a rake, and his womanising is legendary, but he is best friends with both John and Francesca and hides his feelings for her by telling his wicked conquest stories. A regency set historical novel with a healthy dose of smut thrown in.

I enjoyed Francesca’s story. I wish we had gotten more of her & Johns relationship at the beginning. But I do love her & Michael & them being best friends, makes me really happy to read about. I liked watching their internal struggles dealing with their feelings for eachother in the wake of John’s death too, very realistic.
The only part I didn’t really like was the whole "seduction" plot Michael started when he got to Scotland. It seemed so out of character. He spent the first half of the book fighting his feelings for Francesca & how he couldn’t be with her cause it "disrespected" John. I agree with them getting married making sense & him proposing & trying to convince her, but when the convincing became seduction, it just felt wrong, & it just surprised me coming from Michael who deeply respected Francesca, but that didn’t feel like respect at all.

I hadn't read a Bridgerton book in quite some time as I found the formula to be a bit repetitive and I just wasn't into the cheesy drama anymore. But, now I was in between part one and part two of the third season of the show and felt like I needed something to help tide me over till I got more from the cast. I actually liked Francesca's story a lot as it had some more serious topics at hand such as losing one's husband and infertility. So, aside from the romance, there were a great deal of other conversations tackling what it's like to live with these problems and how one might carry on in life in spite of these obstacles. I found Michael adorable and honestly, he did not have the typical outburst that became so typical in all the previous installments. Yes, there were heated arguments but it seemed measured and no completely unreasonable. A very solid addition to the series indeed.

As a newbie to romance novels, I started with the Bridgertons. This one is by far my favorite of the series. It gets a little cheesy towards the end but... It's a romance novel, y'know?

The best Bridgerton by far!

I had to knock a 1/4 point off because
I find both the just relax and enjoy life and POOF infertility is cured epilogue and also life is incomplete without a baby for women theme very exhausting
