This is a stand-alone novel. Well, I mean, I hadn't read any of the prior ones and I didn't have any problems. The plot spun like a carousel--each suspect endlessly spinning in front of your eyes until finally it all comes together. O'Connor gives you the pieces you need. I actually thought there was going to be an illegitimate-but-adopted-by0a0different-family-member son for a while, which would explain the family's living arrangements, but no.

1. Dr. Brady and the pathologist arrive, Brady driving, at the barn in the same car. The pathologist leaves first in their car? So the garda drive Brady back to her work?
2. In Ch 11 Siobahn speculates that Eoin and James will not be living with them. She later reiterates that they won't. Why not? Was this decision made in a different book?

I liked the lighthearted writing style as well as the fact that the author went against the grain and didn't use the typical female detective tropes that come with murder mysteries. There is a lot of conversation and 'thinking out loud' passages that start to feel longwinded but the setting and characters felt very original to me and was like a breath of much needed fresh air!
