It kept me engaged and interested, though I did guess at most of the twists. This novel wasn't as good as some of the other Erica James novels I have read (The Dandelion Years) but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

A good family drama with a sprinkling of romance. This was a satisfying holiday read: intriguing characters, well paced and not too complicated, although some sections may have been a little predictable.

Surprising book, my sister read this and had insisted I read it that it was a great read. I reluctantly agreed, normally romance books aren't my cup of tea. I say surprising as it wasn't all mushy and romantic like I had anticipated. If you romance with a bit of a dark twist to it, than this is the book for you.

A fast and easy read that's perfect for something to take along with you while on vacation. It's entertaining enough but not a book that will leave you with deep thoughts. It felt a bit too chatty at times and throughout the book I felt like I was constantly inside the main character's head. The narrative was constantly interrupted by the rhetorical questions that Lydia keep asking and there were too many coincidences thrown in to make the story entirely believable.
My rating is closer to the 2.5 stars mark but I'll go with 3 as it deserves more than 2. If you're planning on reading this because you think the setting is in Venice, be warned that only the beginning and ending is. Most of the story takes place in England. Which is fine, but I was expecting more Venice.
