I don’t know how to feel about it, the first couple of books were good and then it just got kinda boring and trivial. I finished because i just wanted to know how it end. This could have been better with some editing.

This one was a wild ride…
1) The “good guy” becomes tainted and kind of goes bad…
2) There is a war with a king who is trying to claim the throne after the ruler dies against the rightful heir!
3) I really loved how strong the female MC became.
4) Favorite side character ended up being a guard named Jax!

What an ending! Despite feeling, in general, like it could have easily been a trilogy instead of five book series, I honestly can't have enough of this. And I'm interested to see what the prequel series is about!
The world building gets more pronounced somewhere in the middle of this series, but is still not overly original. The writing style is, honestly, not that much to look at. The plot is always engaging, I love how amazingly imperfect the two main characters are. I'm in love with the romance. The side characters are fleshed out and make such a great group. What really makes this series for me are its characters. Also, of course we must apperciate how stunning the covers are.

ok the ending was just a little bit disappointed i mean im so glad of what they did and of their victory but damn needed more moments between aldrik and vhalla as empress and emperor and husband and wife happy and cute moments and even her pregnant but oh well i didn't really get that but so glad they did it they defeated victor and made the empire better or at least trying and vhalla such a strong woman what a badass aldrik my king i love him with all my heart, so happy for them and their family ugh!! also fritz and grahm together?? needed more of that but also so so so happy for them!! just ending the book with elecia's pov was cleaver, also needed more moments of her with jax but happy they all are alive and well and doing their thing and making the empire better and restoring what was destroyed and all!! it was such an amazing series can't wait to read the other series in this world!! aldrik is definitely a top fave character with fritz and vhalla then jax and elecia and baldair take number two i just can't help it i mean with larel too can't forget about my fearless bestie!! also really like grahm just needed more of him tbh but he's cute indeed and also powerful and so helpful yes my family all together!
sooo overall, i loved the series, so action packed, amazing magic system, one of my faves for sure type of magic systems ever, complex and amazing development characters i mean the growth of aldrik into the man he truly is and deep down always was then vhalla from a library girl to such a fearless badass kind woman ugh yes love it and im obsessed with them in love with them and just loved every single thing!! definitely will read the other series by elise kova specially the ones in the same universe so exciting!! so glad i continue with this series right after i read the first book without expectations and it turned out to be so so good im so glad best time! need another series to be this obsessed with and with more than three books not gonna lie!! if you haven't read this one YOU MUST PLEASE DO IT! the action, the world building, the magic system, the characters, the FOUND FAMILY, so good so amazing also heartbreaking and tense but oh so beautiful and wholesome do it!

I am amazed by this series. I ended up listening to it cause I was able to get all five books with just one Audible credit, and I thoroughly enjoyed every book. With audiobooks, I tend to forget events that happened in the books, but I did not have a problem with this series. It was outstanding- the characters showed real growth, the plot was always twisting and turning, and the romance was perfection. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to dive into a fantasy/ya/romance series

This whole series was so fun to read. I loved the characters and how their stories are told. The development of everyone was crazy to see throughout all the books.

This one is also about 4.5, I really really liked it and I loved the ending so much but ir felt more slow moving. A lot of the time I genuinely didn’t know what was gonna happen and I liked how the characters progressed, yay!

I am so happy I read this series. The climax of this book, is the pinnacle of the whole series. I felt the raw emotion Val and Aldrik felt and was so full of emotion, I teared up with the end. This was the most satisfying ending I have read to a series yet.
