"I hope someday he loves me
Good night, he says
I want to kiss, and kiss, and kiss him."

This is definitely on of my new all time favorite books! It evoked so many different kinds of emotions from me. I laughed, I felt warm-bubbly-ness in my heart, and I cried and cried. I love how the authors wrote this story and these characters, they felt insanely real. I fell for this book before even reading a quarter of it! That's just how amazing it is. Not to mention the gorgeous cover! I mean it's just breathtaking, I love the rainbow ombre effect of the sky. Basically, if you like contemporary romance with so much more underneath, then I recommend you read this.

A decent YA book that was mostly interesting for its descriptions of Mormon life.

Okay okay so reading this book as a queer literature graduate from Europe was objectively funny. I don't know what Mormonism really is, beyond the missionaries who try to recruit me because I look like I need saving. I imagine some queer kid in a staunchly homophobic religious environment would massively benefit from this book. However, I certainly did not gain anything beyond mild amusement for a day. The only bits I truly enjoyed were the 'Post-it' inserts into the narrative - genuinely thoughtful and illuminating in terms of the protagonists emotional state, at times lyrical and striking. But these were only supposed to be his private confessions, without real space in the larger narrative. Unfortunately, the writers didn't employ this style (or level) of writing consistently. I read this book because it had been sitting on my shelf for almost six years (?), and I definitely think it could have meant something to me at that time. Alas, being an adult far removed from the reality of the religious culture of this story, it didn't leave a real impression on me.

-- Stating that because I didn't personally relate to the narrative so therefore it was not impactful is kind of redundant. What constitutes good literature (in my humble opinion) is to make specific, personal, charged writing feel accessible and universal for anyone. To foster connection and empathy between the reader and the narrative, regardless of their differences. When I read books like this (and again, I AM NOT of the intended demographic by any means) its not that I don't empathise with the characters, or connect to the story. Rather, I do so to a point. I did not lose myself in this story by any means, and therefore, I dunno man, its,, yeah. Read it if you want to. Its entertaining at least, and you get to witness first hand the misunderstanding that young people somehow use emojis sincerely.

Brečím. Brečím, brečím, brečím, jsem absolutně emočně vycucnutá, v hlavě mi zní Snapeovo „život prostě není fér", a zároveň se mi chce rozpustit štěstím. Jednoznačně příběh, který mi ještě dlouho bude ležet v hlavě.

It was a good listen. The narrator was awesome. And I am all about books about bisexuals. There are not enough and I need so many more.

The pit fall for this book was the instarelationahip. It was so immediate and there was barely any build up to them being together. Especially with one of the being Mormon and struggling deeply with faith and sexuality, except we didn’t really see it, not until nearly the end. Of course it’s mentioned, but it didn’t hit hard enough in my opinion.
