Solid read. Tolstoy was certainly ahead of his time. Some of the feminist ideas are outdated by now but many of them aren't. I didn't like the last part--I wanted to know more about the characters.

Some recurring themes bothered me--the conflation of goodness and religion which was common for the time, for some reason Tolstoy's liberal use of
suicide
throughout the narrative really bothered me. When
Anna
did it we got a really good insight to her mental state but when
Vronsky
tries it, it's not described so carefully. It makes the teeming feel muddled.

I felt that the final part was full of character development that wasn't earned. This was overall the weakest part. Levin's
religious epiphany
didn't feel quite earned. I also think Tolstoy has odd opinions about children.

Some of my favorite parts were Kitty and Levin going to care for his brother and Vronsky's racing scene. I really think Anna was depicted as such a flawed but ultimately (mostly) a likeable person, and it was fun to get to know her. I really liked all the pondering and philosophizing, it's fun to get a snapshot of how people thought and what they thought about in a different time.

🦎We have a lizard man!🦎 Alexei Karenin, beautiful gamer nerd that you are. Never change.
🦎Although not fully a lizard man, Lenin definitely comes close at points. He kept me afloat during this whole venture.
I loved every person in this book: except the titular Anna. Tolstoy tried really hard to get me to like her, to no avail. Other than that, the colorful side cast filled the shoes of likeability the main characters were lacking, and I found it an overall pleasant experience.

This was one of the best classical novels I have ever read .
The below four lines for me was the most crucial part of the story , but Tolstoy slightly snuck it in , and expected his readers to find these pearls hidden in his story :

‘Well , you know -people are different ;one man lives just for his own needs ,like Mityukha , who only stuffs his belly , but Fonkanych -he’s a righteous old man .He lives for his soul.Remembers God .’

Tolstoy subtly yet beautifully portrayed that wisdom can be found in the most unassuming places .
It was a peasant in his opaque language who imparted the answers to Levin , not his acclaimed education or the intellectual chatter ,which he was highly used to and exposed to .

The understanding he gained ,through the wisdom imparted by the peasant triggered a spiritual evolution and slowly started to piece the puzzle of the meaning of life for him and he did his part in employing every fibre of his being to enhance his understanding , which then gave him access to the truth he was seeking which released him from the shackles of darkness that kept threatening him in the past .

On the other hand Anna Karenina also someone of equal intellectual capacity , failed to find the answers for the most important question in Life
“ Her life’s purpose.”
She failed to find wisdom which could have been a guiding light and as a result became a victim of her own negative thoughts .
And no one but Tolstoy could have brought out such a brilliant truth and the complexity of the human mind .
