El dicho asegura: el que mucho abarca poco aprieta. Acá se desmiente. Tolstoy abarca un montón de temas y en todos aprieta hasta ahorcar. La parte de la historia de Anna la terminé con un nudo en la garganta y dolor de pecho. El final, en cambio, es bastante esperanzador, sorpresivamente para el tono de la novela.

The Pevear/Volokhonsky translation totally won me over. While I had read other smaller works of Russian literature, this is really what won me over to Tolstoy and then inspired me to seek out Dostoyevsky and others.
Anna Karenina is such a work of passion and heartbreak that I think anyone can find and take something away from the novel.

I jumped into this novel with no idea what it was about, and I've never seen the movie. I enjoyed it very much, and it was an amazing read up until the final section which did feel out of place. However, I looked up Tolstoy's background afterwards to understand why that section stands out. It helps to keep track of the characters as many of them have nicknames, and there are so many.
