Oh god. What was that ending?

Kai Butler has done it again: "Saffron Wilds" is freaking fantastic. Action-packed and mysterious, with a complex, heart-stopping and wild plot and even more complex and ridiculously endearing cast of characters.

Parker and Nick's latest adventure was absolutely gripping and I seriously can't wait to see where the next book will lead them: I'm both terrified and beyond excited. Because oh god, that ending? "Saffron Wilds" is that installment in a series where everything has suddenly become much more high-stakes, every single events and discovery is of the "oh shit" quality and the build-up to the finale here was just *chef's kiss* ridiculously good. The villains have become much scarier and bolder and the heroes have to make difficult, life-changing choice: this novel is the tipping point of this series, and I cannot wait to see what will happen next.

On the other hand, I think this sixth installment is probably my least favourite of them all, because I missed the mystery/police procedural aspect of this series; and because so much of it is connected to the Old Gods and the other Realms, I missed the fae aspect as well. That was a shame because in the background of the main events of the book lots of things happen with the Courts, and I kept wishing the plot would bring us back there.. But oh well.

I still loved it! Parker and Nick's relationship is the sweetest thing ever: I loved them so much here. And Parker of course is my absolute favourite.
I'd also happily lay down my life for both Laurel and Sugar: those two are iconic. Talon also has become a favourite of mine, so I was so happy to see him have a more important role in this one!

I can't wait for the next book. That ending was CRUEL, and I'm still reeling from everything that has happened. How am I supposed to wait now eh?

I'm sad the next one it will be the last, but hopefully Kai Butler has some other, equally fabulous stories planned.
