I wonder why Jane Austen decided not to finish this book? It had the makings, seemingly, of a good, classic Austen novel. I can’t guarantee that the plot or characters wouldn’t have gotten tedious had it continued into a long book, but as a fragment it was enjoyable and Emma was likeable.

If Jane Austen had opportunity to finish this book, it might be my favorite from her

This is an unfinished, unpolished draft of an interesting and intriguing story. The chapters Austen completed are engaging and contain well-crafted dialogue and characters. I was disappointed when it abruptly ended.

"The Watsons" by Jane Austen
An earlier work of Jane Austen's which wasn't continued, "The Watsons" is a story, similar to "Sanditon", about a family of the gentry and poor peasant farmers.
MY THOUGHTS:
This book is far shorter than "Sanditon" and "Lady Susan" but this novel isn't exactly a great one to start with Austen.
I nearly forgot the plot of this novel but the gentry vs. peasant classes joining in a party to express their views.
Anyway, the subsequent complete and longer novels were all the more enjoyable to read than these three Jane Austen novels that I read in March.
