"Schizophrenia is derived from the Greek skhizen, 'to split', and phren, 'mind'."

"The overwhelming majority of psychiatric diagnoses aren't arrived by looking at blood tests or anything of the sort. Rather, it is the words people say - or do not say - as interpreted by professionals, that as much as anything else will determine a diagnosis."

What would you do when your mind 'takes over'?

Or, maybe the key question will be, what would you do when the mind of someone you love is not in their control? How will you respond? What would be your reaction? This is important, because a lot of things will depend on this.

It is so needed for the same reason that everyone is aware, knowledgeable and educated about mental illnesses and emotional health.

The real-life examples in this book provide vital insights and understanding.

It will have to be our vision and hope of having a society in which mental health and emotional illnesses are acceptable as a part of the regular life, and also where each one of us possess the skills and understanding to take care of our own mental health and also guide loved ones and others, with empathy.

This book is awesome. It has a mix of stories from people with lived experience of serious mental health diagnosese. In addition some informative sections on the history of diagnosis, what is known about 'schizophrenia', arguments about treatment and what little is known about how current medications actually work.

This was incredibly informative, kind, interesting and challenging in its exploration of Schizophrenia and its modern day treatment. This book was at times lighthearted, at times incredibly sad, but it has stuck with me ever since I read it and I recommend it to everybody.

This is such an important book and I'm really glad its title has been changed to bring more people to it. I'd especially recommend it for the discussion of medication.
