Tessa Bailey's books are just brain candy for me. There's lots of issues here (misogyny Alpha-male BS, etc...) but it was short and mindless which is what I needed.

Roxy's personality is not to my taste. She comes across as very brass, almost bitchy, definitely closed off due to her past (she was a "surprise baby" so her parents didn't want her and they definitely don't approve of her acting career, and due to how hot she is she's used to guys wanting her for sex and then dropping her). Louis is fine. He's a well-off Manhattan lawyer with "approachable abs," a trust fund, but he just wants to do good and does lots of pro bono cases.

A one night stand sends a sing-a-gram, Roxy dressed as a pink bunny, to Louis who is hungover after one of his pro bono cases won. He's immediately intrigued by her voice and doubly so when he sees her and they share a hot a kiss.
He tracks her down but the only way to get her # is to order a sing-a-gram again, which doesn't go down well with Roxy.  Meanwhile, she sees an ad online for a Chelsea apartment for only $200/month rent! Crazy race through Manhattan happens, she's an extra in a movie scene, other crazy shenanigans as she beats out other girls to get to this apartment where 1 other girl is already there. Abby, a corporate businesswoman with a huge trust fund, is bored and wants friends so she's renting out this 3 bedroom apartment for cheap. Honey is the other roommate. Roxy needs to quickly earn $200, her desperation makes her accept a job to be a strip-o-gram and of course the job is for Louis' sister's fiancé's bachelor party. Louis prevents her from stripping all the way and they continue their plans for a real date.

But Louis hates to see her struggling and, even though she's told him she wants to be an actress on her own merit, he calls in a favor with a friend director, who immediately gives Roxy a part. Except he, Johan, is super creepy and schedules 1x1 nighttime "rehearsal" sessions with her. Finally he does come on to her, rips her shirt, and as she's leaving Louis turns up and sees it (he was talking to one of his twin sisters who knew the guy was creepy). But Johan reveals to Roxy that Louis called in the favor to get her the role. Roxy is betrayed and mopes for a week until Louis' 2 friends Russel and Ben come over to tell her how miserable he's been. She goes over to him and they get back together.

Roxy was just SO insecure and closed off. She went out of her way to avoid her new roommates, she doesn't have friends or ANY close ties. It seems impossible someone could live like that. Louis tries so damn hard and it's clear he's just trying to do good and make her happy. Was just frustrating to read this relationship. But it's Tessa Bailey so you know this has a good amount of dirty talk and great spicy scenes.

Quick read. Steamy. Didn’t really like either of the main characters.
