This was my most anticipated read of the year. As a huge fan of both movies and the miniseries, I was super excited when the news dropped that it will be a continuation of The Best Man in book format, following up after the miniseries.

Honestly, reading this was like watching the characters on screen again. If you’ve seen the movies and series, these groups of friends will definitely have you on a rollercoaster.

The love triangle between Harper, Robyn, and Jordan still continues. You also get to dive deeper into these characters and how their minds work. Yes, it gets a bit messy too.

Harper is still Harper, lol. But he seems to be coming to terms with how his selfishness affects his loved ones. He may be learning a bit, I think.

Robyn is enjoying Ghana. She’s running a business and being a mom to Mia. She’s also getting to know someone new. But everything seems to be taking a toll on Mia with her parents not being together. Things start to get real emotional.

I always liked Jordan because she was an educated, strong, black woman. She took no mess and was just so BAD@$$. Now you get to see a whole different side of her. Wheww 😮‍💨. I now see why she is the way she is.

Murch, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, and Candace make appearances also, but this book solely centers on Harper, Robyn, and Jordan.

Now, this does leave off on a cliffhanger, being that it’s going to be a trilogy, but you’re going to want to get into it. It’s going to have you wanting more, but you do not want to miss this tea 🫖.

Malcolm, you have done it again. I’m not sure if you started on part two yet but I’m going to need that within the next six months that cliffhanger baby this was beautifully done and executed and I need more ASAP. I was so happy that the first book focus on Harper, Jordan and Robyn story because I felt that was the one most people wanted to know about and baby when you say unfinished business unfinished business!! we definitely got into some things in this book, I ate this up in two days and I cannot wait to see how the rest of this series plays out.

Like so many other fans, I was really excited when I heard the next chapter in The Best Man saga was going to be a book and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

If you’ve been following this group of friends, you know there’s always been some lingering tension between Harper, Robyn, and Jordan. This novel dives deeper into their dynamic, but don’t worry - we still get some great moments with Murch, Candace, Quentin (who is still hilarious btw), Shelby, and Lance too.

Harper’s living that unfulfilled bachelor life. Robyn’s in Accra, trying to reclaim her peace and purpose after pouring so much of herself into Harper. And Jordan? Still the beautiful, confident powerhouse we’ve always known, but this time we get a glimpse beneath the surface.

The book really adds depth to each character. I saw so much of myself in both Robyn and Jordan - Robyn’s journey to start showing up for herself the way she does for everyone else, and Jordan’s need to appear strong and put together being rooted in something deeper.

This group of friends feels like family at this point, and it was such a joy to reconnect with them. That ending though?! 😱 Definitely put this one on your list when it drops in July!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
