This series has me hooked. The world of Junior Bender gets more detailed and gains color and depth. The story is different than the first two. Takes some strange tangents. Even a little historical fiction and paranormal activity thrown in for fun.

I always try to stretch out Hallinan's books, to make the pleasure last longer.

It never works.

Another stellar, heartbreaking mystery, cast with burglars, down on their luck con men, ancient gangsters, and of course, beautiful women. Hilarious, quote-worthy wit, and so much heart. Love it.

Good, quick mystery/detective novel. Didn't like it as much as the first two but i still enjoy the characters. This one seemed to be missing a few twists and turns and everything at the end seemed to get resolved very quickly. I'd say still worth reading if you enjoy the series.

Feels like Hallinan is running out of gas three books into the series.
