Holland (first of all how cute is that name?!?!) is kind of lost and shuffling her way through life after grad school. She works for her uncle at the theater selling merchandise and taking pictures. She wants to write but hasn't really had anything inspire her lately. One of her favorite activities is going to the subway and watching a super hot guy playing the guitar.
“The thing about this music is that if you just stand here and listen, you’ll never appreciate it. You’re supposed to be part of it—part of the party. I think that’s why I like it so much.”

Holland knows music. Growing up with her musically gifted uncle has given her an ear for it. When the star of her uncles orchestra quits, Holland has the perfect idea! Hottie from the subway can take his spot! Everyone is in agreement until they find out Calvin (aka Hottie) is here in the country illegally... Holland decides to take actions into her own hands and marries him to keep him in the country.
“I catch a flash of bare ass and find religion.”

I absolutely love a marriage of convenience trope! Something about it is so incredibly cute and this book nailed it! Holland was seriously my favoriteeeee! She is so funny! I loved how real she felt. She seems like someone I would be friends with! I was seriously giggling to myself within the first chapter! The entire story is told from her point of view so we only get to see things from her perspective, which totally worked! Calvin is super charming and I absolutely adored him. I also, really enjoyed her uncles and the roles that they played in her life!

This book caught me instantly within the first few chapters, however, it did dip in pace in the middle. There were a few parts that just seemed to drag a bit. 3/4 of the way through the book and it picked right back up!! I really loved the action/drama that was happening towards the end!

Overall this is a really sweet story! If you love a  good musician romance and a marriage of convenience, then this is it for you!

Underdeveloped and unfinished in some areas, esp Colin’s POV, but still delightful

3.5 stars

the story was weird 'cause the mcs were totally strangers to each other (as in utterly and completely), but i'm also weird so i liked it.
