Read for uni and again for fun

I read this for a seminar a while ago and even wrote a paper about it back then. But I pulled it out again to read it just for fun. I remember liking it then and I really enjoyed it now, too. The overall vibe of the play is very chill and the writing is so good! The characters and their relationships seem very real and the stories they tell really have an impact because of this. I read it on the train and shamelessly shed a tear when Valerie told her story.
I think it says a lot about how well this play is written that I am gushing about it here while most of the dialogue is literally just small talk.
Its so good.

It is a very beautiful low-key play with interesting themes and well written characters.

*back when I read it in class I wrote a paper on the gender relationships and the place if female trauma within a male-centric space but I also think there is a lot to analyse about socio-econimic status and the effect money and capitalism has on the different characters and their relationships to each other, especially in a poor rural area.

New year, new required reading lists 😵 Thankfully this was a quick and easy one to start with.
I have a feeling this is going to be one that I appreciate more after studying it in class because right now I can’t say there was much of a story to it. I guess I just didn’t really get the point...
