Fabulous woman empowerment story that has its roots in history. The author's note in the back will give background to the actuall Amelia Bloomer for anyone unfamiliar. Elizabeth Cady Stanton even makes an appearance in the story. The illustrations are fabulous. I think most young girls will enjoy this story.

I used to read this book all the time as a kid and I randomly purchased it after thinking about it again. It was definitely a good boost of serotonin and nostalgia. Such a wholesome story and a really good message for kids. I adore this book.

This is another gem by Shana Corey who does great non-fiction books, and I hope that she will do more! I fell in love with her latest book Mermaid Queen that I have ben trying to seek out more of her work. Where Mermaid is the biography the swimmer Annette Kellerman and her bringing us the swimsuit, this is the biography of Amelia Bloomer who's promotion of comfortable clothing for women was on stride in rights for women. I love that the book talks about her newspaper The Lily, her friendship and work with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the fight for women's rights 160 years ago.

I picked this up because I'm researching Amelia Bloomer. It's a cute book if you know nothing about her. It's annoying if you do.

This was an awesome, fun book. I like how there aren't a over abundance of words so the book is appropriate for reading to a younger audience. I also like the pretty, bright colors used in the illustrations.
