One of the best BEST memoirs I've read!!!

i enjoyed this book a lot more in the beginning than at the end. respectfully there is only so much whinging from an irascible, white gay man that i can tolerate

I would recommend to listen to this book - and any of his books... he's so wildly entertaining.
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted reflective medium-paced

Took me long enough, but I did really enjoy this collection! Not quite as much as Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls but it’s up there. I always find myself loving his essays about family members (especially his father) the most
dark emotional reflective fast-paced

I read this when it came out fifteen years ago, and thought it was great. I read this over the past month, and...it's not great. It's got a couple funny narratives. It's mostly just droning drivel. I'm halfway tempted to go back and read Naked, which I thought rather better than this collection, and see if I'm correct or not, but then maybe I'll just keep fond memories and not disturb them?
