I liked this book, and found it quite entertaining. That was about it though. As writing, I would put it up there with a sit-com. Something you tune into to see what this quirky cast of characters will do and say.

Me Talk Pretty One Day was an excellent audiobook. I laughed out loud often due to Sedaris’s narration. Wonderful, quick read.

His stories always make me laugh & I just love how they teeter on being believable and being fantastical. That’s what makes it so interesting!!! I loved all the stories from his time in France especially those in French language school.

This book was very hit and miss for me. For every story I find really good and profound, there's another that just really annoys me. Most of this comes from his opinions on art and sophistication. The way he dismisses other people's art (in the form of pieces, cooking, etc.) offhandedly, without even really engaging with it feels like the exact kind of snobbishness he purports to dislike. It feels a lot like he considers himself a fraud and projects it onto others which really annoys me. I loved the more autobiographical stories like Youth in Asia and the ones about his dad and thought they were touching and hilarious.
