An extremely odd book. Undoubtedly intriguing and very well-written.

This was the second try for this book and I just can’t do it.

I just can’t do the constant misogyny, abuse, and just depressing tone of this book. While I understand London in the 20s wasn’t a great place for women, I just couldn’t keep listening and hoping the main character would kill herself to reset her life.

Plot has no sense of urgency or particular sense of direction. Just a meandering collection of story points. It is entirely possible that this ends brilliantly, but it shouldn’t take more than 400 pages to accrue momentum

This book was beautiful. Honestly I loved it, the looping back over things the slow reveal is that this is a life lived multiple times.

Each time the darkness comes she gets another go, and each time the consequences are good, and bad, and the same.

I love how she learns from her past lives but never knows really that she has.
