Entertaining Heinlen juvenile. It’s a product of its time and his views, but entertains still

It’s not super deep but it is a fun little story.

Para nada una obra menor del autor. Una muestra más de que R.A. Heinlein es uno de los grandes maestros y referentes de la ciencia ficción.

The flow of the story felt a bit rocky at points but all together it was a good story and I really liked the characters. I liked the story it just didn’t stick with me as much as I expected it would.

One of those Teen books that is plenty good for adults

Decent! Much more of a courtroom drama than I was expecting from a Heinlein juvenile, but hey, maybe they're all like that? The full cast recording was fun, but also had its downsides: for example, back-and-forth dialogue sections that narratively go at a rapid pace often had the issue of one narrator clearly stopping before then next narrator came in. If you've ever tried to read "in the round" you might know what phenomenon I'm talking about. That said, some of the voice actors are quite good, and the voice of the titular Star Beast is better heard rather than read. Also, contra people who only know Heinlein from STARSHIP TROOPERS and THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS, this book actually features competent bureaucrats and a pointed (if, well, juvenile) message about racial tolerance! The female characters are rather of their time (and of course one's the protagonist's mom, the other his will-they-won't-they friend), but they are different, and Betty (the friend) does way more stuff than our protagonist, who's a bit of a doofus.
