The Neil Gaiman quote on the front about sums it up: "So funny, so sad. Read it and sigh." Anyone who's worked at a bookshop (or library) will recognise some of these customers and their antics. It's a loose collection of tweets and sketches so a very quick and light read. It's not as laugh-out-loud funny as I Can't Remember the Title but the Cover Was Blue by Elias Greig but it got a "heh" or two out of me. Same review for Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops which I also read tonight.
Here we have another humorous yet affectionate look into some of the weird, wonderful and down right bizarre things that customers say in bookstores and libraries around the world, including a few examples from the author's own experiences at book signings for the first volume of such things. How the booksellers manage to keep their sanity in such situations is beyond me, I would really struggle to not grab some of these people by the shoulders, look them in the eye and say 'Really?! I mean REALLY!?'.
I found this book to be much more stronger than the first one. I have no idea why, could be there were more silliness from children (or people kept dragging Fifty Shades of Grey up). Anyway, I recommend this book for those who want a glimpse of what people say in respect to the literary world.
Hilarious and SO RELATABLE as someone who works in a bookshop!!
funny
relaxing
fast-paced
هذه السلسلة حتى لو صدر منها خمسون كتابًا، سأظل اقرأها واترقب في كل مرة المواقف العجيبة التي يروي عنها.
