loved the reveal and i really enjoyed the game as a whole, but seeing everyone's future was so underwhelming. i didn't think it was necessary for everyone to stay connected like that especially turtle and theo like ?

The clues range from non-existent to completely useless to any reader of a translation. A lot of characters see things and only say so later, a lot of red herrings that aren't very interesting anyway...

But honestly, the book just goes around in circles for the first two thirds. Then, it becomes fun to read, if still terribly disjointed and somewhat unsatisfying, but at least things actually HAPPEN. And I had to admit the last few chapters tugged at my heartstrings, but it doesn't make the first hundred pages very worth it.

Doesn't work at all as a mystery, is more effective as a coming of age story.

*2.5 stars

This was...fine? I guess? I could have read it all in one sitting, but I didn't have the pull into this story to have the motivation for that. I found the writing very convoluted, with the HUGE cast of characters, everybody talking over each other all the time with no true distinction, and random details that pop up out of nowhere. If I'm going to read a book about a group of random people coming together to play a game because an old rich guy died, I'll read The Inheritance Games series again.

I have read this book more than I can remember. My sixth grade teacher introduced it to me. It is a very good mystery that will keep you from putting the book down. The more times you read the book the more you start to have and understand all the pieces. I just love this book and recommend it to anyone that loves a good mystery.
