What a joy. Loved every bit of it.
My favorite book when I was a child.

Reading this for old times sake.... I remember it helping me love books just a little bit more.
I was so in love with this book when i was in 6th grade, that i constructed an entire class project around it which involved redrawing the board game Clue.
It's a smart mystery with twists and turns at every corner. Like a more satisfying episode of Scooby Doo for a much older audience.
It also won a newberry metal the year i was born :)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I did not enjoy this book. Maybe I would have liked it more if I had read it instead of listened to it.
I could not keep up with all of the characters; they did not seem developed enough for me to care what happened to them. Some of the wording did not age well; the terms may have been common when the book was written, but not anymore.
I read that HBO Max is creating a series about the book. In spite of my negative review, I can see how that could be fun.

A favorite book of mine as a kid, and it still holds up 20 some years later.
One of my favorite books of all time, with surprising twists, clever word plays, and a great cast of characters. Definitely a mystery that kept me guessing until the end.
I really wanted to enjoy this more than I actually did. The writing style is witty and unique while the story is intriguing and strongly comedic. Unfortunately the amount of characters were too much for me to keep track of who was who so by the time the reveal came; it failed to leave me surprised and maybe just a little disappointed.
