It was a rough start for me but then I started to get into it! A fantasy novel with medical themes, kings that hold “providence cards” with special powers and a plague that makes people have powers but also leads them to be killed by the king. The only way to cure the plague might be bringing all the cards together and the only way to get the cards is to do so in secret using the powers of those who are currently plagued.

I don't have very eloquent words to describe it, but this was so beautiful and ethereal almost. But in a dark way. "Fun" isn't the right word, but it was compelling and engrossing and moody and entertaining. Looking forward to reading the sequel!
