I read the book quickly, and I found it very good. It was a good fast-paced book to get me out of a book slump! I read it after watching the Netflix series. It was surprising to see the huge differences the show made from the book, one being that Joe is way more likable in the show than in the book. In the book, he just gives off this creepy vibe and you end up not rooting for him, but I felt differently about his character in the show. Other than that, it gets points for the writing.

So good, insanely tense. As a fan of the show I had high hopes for the book, and it did not fail me. The book was a bit hard to follow at times and the main characters were both a bit much at times but the descriptive imagery was phenomenal.
The biggest downfall of this book for me was the seemingly endless amount of sex. It was as if every other page was sexual in nature and many of the comparisons were uncomfortable and unnerving. Some of the book seemed to be glamorizing gaslighting and toxicity in relationships.
Overall a very good book, but could be very triggering if not in the right head space.

As a big fan of the show I loved getting to listen to the audiobook version. Joe is somehow even worse in the book than in the Netflix show which shocked me a bit because I didn't realize he could get any worse lol. I look forward to reading more of the series.

I think that every one of you who thinks that while Joe does horrible things you find the way he thinks relatable, need to go to therapy, seriously how the hell is he relatable??

I'd watch bits of the show, but nothing concrete, so it was still a good read. The protagonist is creepy, and controlling, and the writing was amazing. I know Joe is toxic, but the writing made me want him to succeed, and then it slowly turned, yet still held it's charm. I immediately wanted to pick up Hidden Bodies.

Fast paced, compelling and super creepy. This book was almost uncomfortable to read, but it was so good.  The narrative really fit the story and I think I'll be reading the rest of the series.
Both MCs were maddening and super toxic...i honestly think the only character I liked in this book was Karen. It's also a really interesting commentary on privilege and 'keeping up with the Joneses' Joe is completely delusional and deserves a lot more than he got served in this book.
