This was a really fun read! It's very mysterious, fast paced, and full of heart. I loved getting to know the orphans and seeing them work together. If you want a good older middle grade mystery and a story about found family, this would be a great choice. I'm excited to read the next book in the series.
Moderate: Violence
Minor: Murder
It's a bit intense at times, especially with the fighting scenes.kj468's review against another edition

As an adult, I’m definitely not the target audience for this book, but I’ve read basically all of Ally Carter’s other books and loved them so… why not? And guess what? I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely a middle grade book, but the plot kept me intrigued and the writing is very solid. This book is very much A Series of Unfortunate Events meets Jenny LeClue, with a dash of Batman. I definitely recommend it to kids (and not kids) who enjoy fun mysteries, exciting plots, and precocious, brave children.
Minor: Child abuse and Murder
