Reading this after book four, instead of in between books three and four hits a bit harder knowing several of the characters featured in this guide are no longer with us.

There's character profiles / bios (complete with pictures), information about the academy, classes, traditions, an interview with Tracy Wolff, two quizzes, five deleted scenes and a whole novella in Hudson's PoV.

It actually reminds me of the Twilight Saga illustrated guide. Except, unlike the character illustrations there, where they mostly look how I imagined them, not a single character here looks that way, with the exception of Gwen. So I'm choosing to ignore the pictures and stick to my imagination.

There's also little text conversations with various characters after every bio, most of them are cute and funny.

I really liked the interview, and of course Hudson's novella, even though my poor baby was in pain.

You could read this at any point after the third book, maybe even after the whole series. It gives extra content, but if you don't feel like reading it you won't miss anything huge.

I loved being able to see all the character bios (and pictures of them!!) and read their answers to all the questions, the jokes for each one, and the fun facts for each. One of my favorite parts of these were the text messages that came at the end of each bio either in a private chat or group message. Getting to chat with the author Tracy Wolff and see her answers to some questions revolving around the books and characters was super interesting. And the quizzes were short and fun (a little hard to do once you figured out the key but still cool)! The deleted scenes were so good and I really enjoyed reading those. I liked the novella True North at the end as well seeing as it was in Hudson’s POV (separate review for that).
