I was ready to give 5☆ but the ending was rather disappointing. I think I'm going to pick up the sequel just to get a proper resolution because I loved the characters but the story ended so fast after the showdown.

I do know this is the first book in a trilogy but it just feels unfinished, even after 500 pages of character development Monty is still a proper piece of work even by the end. That's fine I don't need my characters all to be perfect and I do find him charming but honestly, I just wanted him to talk to Percy properly (and maybe to apologise to him and Felicity one more time).

The miscommunication is painful but overall I couldn't put the book down and the historical accuracy is impressive from the events, food, and language it's all adapted well for a modern audience my only complaint is the clothes are accurate but there are not enough hats and gloves.

I'm rather disappointed Monty doesn't even think about telling his mother the information about her marriage, are we supposed to believe she already knows the truth or are we not to care because she's one of the bad guys? It was late when I finished the book but I'm certain he never brings her up.

Couldn’t put it down. Definitely some major secondhand embarrassment scenes, reader beware, but I thought the rest more than made up for it.

I started and finished this book via audiobook and reading along with the physical in just a day. I was hooked from the start with Monty's strong narrative voice and how bold and crass and humorous and bisexual it was in the face of all the trouble he was constantly getting in. I loved his character even more the further he got fleshed out and I just thought him and each of the other main characters were so well-written, I loved their trio dynamic. The plot is a bit wacky but it is definitely a wild adventure that kept me entertained the whole way through and it never felt like it was dragging on. It was very well-paced for a 500 page book. I was also pretty impressed with how the author handled the range of social issues that would be realistic in the setting and time period, and it felt like one of the few times when a white author wrote about people of color with intention beyond just representation and included racial issues without overstepping or being cringey. This book was so fun to read and definitely a great one to read during pride month so I'm so glad I finally got it off my tbr and into my brain lol.

I'd say it good for teens who want to get into reading. It was a bit cringe and predictable for me but overall not bad

So much more than a romp accross Europe with forbidden love the goal. I loved this book start ro finish. It's ridiculous and awkward and it ends perfectly.
