Having read this in the Black Edition, it makes complete sense that volumes 5 and 6 are packaged together since they are essentially one long but interesting digression from the main plot line—it manages to make itself very relevant while also rebooting and realigning relationships, essentially zigging when we thought the narrative was going to barrel forward.
There are a few moments when Light is considering from his new innocent perspective if he could have ever been guilty of being Kira. His denial and inability to see the darkness in himself, the darkness that manifested immediately after he acquired the Death Note, is insightful and tragic. Good stuff.
I also love how alienating L is while also being so kind and genuinely sweet—he’s a weird guy that genuinely likes people. He rules.

Probably my least favourite so far... Felt like a lot of trudging to get through the first 75% then some wonderful twists at the end. Also felt like it suffered from "middle book syndrome" a bit.
You never know what’s going to happen in death note. Wedy is freaking cool and i love her outfits! I am also glad, that Misa isn’t as sexualised, as she were, when she was first introduced.
I miss Ryuk a little:(

3.5/5 stars
This was better than the last volume, but I still had BIG problems with it, which prevented me from giving it a higher rating. For example, the portrayal of women makes me extremely angry and uncomfortable (specially Misa). Overall, I like where the story is going and the characters are able to surprise me with things I didn't see coming. And everyone who's read this knows what I'm talking about (something that happened in the beginning that I don't want to spoil). I do miss some things that were only present in the first volume, and I really hope we get to see that in the next volume.

(3.5⭑) me leí los dos primeros hace casi dos años, por esa razón me ha costado ubicarme y disfrutar la historia de nuevo. sigue siendo una trama genial que adoro, espero que siga así y no empeore en los siguientes tomos.
Less action than the other two due to the whole Yotsuba storyline but I actually really liked the way this one worked, with Light and Misa working with L to catch Kira. It was interesting to see their characters without knowledge of the Death Note, and yeah, I think this is a really good manga.
