So high-level and theoretical it suffered for it. I think there is 5-star content in here, but would be featured through a massive re-edit: a Practical Abridged Comics and Sequential Art would be an elite resource. As it is, reading through the book is a task.

Very technical, so not super fun to read, but the chapter on panel layout/style/use was really good. Very informative.

Very interesting treatment on the page, the frame, and the emotion conveyed in body posture in sequential art. Wish it was a little bit more in depth, but as a brief overview of the treatment of comics, it was very interesting.

I wanted to like this. And perhaps if I were a writer/creator/artist rather than just a reader I would have gotten more out of this. For me it felt almost unreadable. And the choices of examples made it harder to ignore the plot and concentrate on the point being shown. The text was too wordy. The art not obvious enough.

In spite of being rather dated in places, this is a solid starting place for anyone interested in the medium.
