Shari Lapena’s novels are extremely hit-or-miss for me. And with this one I think(?)it was a miss. So many unlikeable characters, including the limp noodle that is Tom Krupp. I enjoyed the start of this plot, but it quickly became a slog with not enough twists or turns for me. And the end left me wanting in a bad way. I will say though, that I was pleasantly shocked for one of the twists!

Suburban thriller, character with amnesia, not sure who to believe/trust. Didn't love the very end, thought it was better without the last "twist"

I think if I didn’t read the couple next door I would have liked this better. the characters were just too similar to her other book.

also idk if i’m just not familiar with the genre but I don’t like this character-type plot twist in the last few pages of the book. like it’s shocking and interesting but it makes the rest of the novel feel repetitive and slow going.

I liked this better than the couple next door because I felt like I was on the edge of my seat most of the time but then about 3/4 through it loses momentum and you get info dumped the ending.

I think this will be the last book I read from this author. It’s interesting and the writing is fine, the narration is great but ultimately wasn’t for me.
