Lots of suicide talk in this book. Like mentioned more than once and the person is even laughed at for it so beware of that if it will be an issue.

This actually got spoiled for me on tiktok so it wasn’t a huge secret about what was going to happen in the end. I wish the rest of the books were dual POV though. I’m not sure if they are. It makes sense why this one wasn’t just to keep the secrecy but I NEED inside the heads of these boys.

Usually I’m okay with « bully romance » even if I don’t love it because there is a main story (like a revenge or a murder investigation etc) but here it looks like it’s just a poor girl getting bullied for being poor by a stupid and arrogant privileged rich boy and j’ai trop la flemme
+ the first scene with Tristan and the fourth year girl tells me what kind of book it’s going to be (the boys fucking with everyone and being sex gods even though they are 15yo) and I kind of hate this trope

Nuh-uh. Nope. Not for me. What a disappointment this was.
I was really looking forward to this one after loving the Adamson All-Boys Academy series by this same author. There is a dual epilogue book between the two series' I planned to read. But as of now I'm just going to skip that, which is a bummer because I was looking forward to re-uniting with Charlotte and her guys.
But I can't stand Marnye and "her guys" -- if you can even call them that -- for so many reasons.
First off, writing-wise, the premonitive prologue was SUCH a bad idea with this book. I don't know why the author thought it would be a good idea to include that. Because here's the problem... Now WE as the reader know ahead of time that these guys are complete assholes who will betray her and have ulterior motives. But Marnye doesn't. So we have to watch her make stupid as fuck decisions to trust them, when we already know they don't actually give a shit about her. It makes it impossible to "fall" for the guys along with her, and it makes her look like an idiot for blindly trusting in them. Without this prologue maybe some of my feelings about the book would've been different.
Aside from that, I didn't like Marnye or any of the guys or side characters in the least.
Marnye is a complete doormat and allows the guys to treat her like absolute shit while she's still pining after them. She has no sense of self worth or self preservation in regards to them.
Then there's her "love interests". Yeah.
These boys are FIFTEEN mind you, and freshmen in high school. And yet they rule the school. This isn't how things work. I don't care how rich any of them are, there is a natural social hierarchy in high school where those who are the oldest rule the youngest. It just is. the idea that these freshmen guys are in charge at the school is absurd.
Oh and they might be only fifteen but apparently they are completely ripped with six packs, deep V-lines, and tattoos. This just isn't realistic. There's no way these teen boys have the bodies of men.
But that's not the worst thing about these guys. The worst thing is that they are complete assholes and sleep with everything that walks. I've never read a "romance" with so much OW shit. They are constantly talking about other girls, pursuing other girls, and hooking up with other girls. At one point Tristan even has sex with another girl in front of Marnye! It's unacceptable.
The bullying aspect also misses the mark. I actually really like bully romances. But they have to be done right. There needs to be an air of flirtation to the bullying for it to work as a romance -- think boys pulling a girls hair because he likes her. But in this one there is no flirtation or chemistry between the characters. They don't even seem particularity attracted to her. They are just assholes. And constantly mocking her previous suicide attempts was going way too far. I couldn't believe that.
The fact that the guys go from being bullies to her to wanting her from one minute to the next (with no transition) should've sent alarm bells ringing for Marnye. And yet it didn't. Because she's a gullible idiot.
Overall the book was bad. If you want to read a GOOD series by this is author, check out Secret Girl. That series is amazing. This one is not and I don't plan to read any more books from this series.

I said that actual review would follow and I have finally got my bearings and dealt with whatever dilemmas and issues I may have had with this book. Now to actually review.
I stand by my initial 5 star rating even though I have some serious problems with Maryne in the first book... and honestly some of the set ups since these "kids" are just that, kids. The stage is set for 15 year old high school students, however, they have tattoos and drive expensive cars and things that you would consider to be attributed to those who are older. But have evaluation I feel as though this is kind a mute point. The world built is one I would never understand because I, in no way remotely, have that kind of money. So what may be very plausible because of that is kind of lost on me.
Maryne is a different case though. In a bully romance, which is what this definitely is, the female lead is supposed to be just as strong willed and aggressive as her bullies... that's kind of what makes it work. While she has some serious high light moments, for the most part she kind of just lets the Idols do what they please without asking any questions. I am sorry but if guys go from wanting to get me kicked out of school to kissing and groping I want to know what the heck is up... but that may just be me *shoulder shrug*.
The Idols are everything you want in male bully romance leads. They're crude jerks who are completely unrepentant. Each of them offers something different to the table and help to aid in the idea that as a core group they would be complete... if they can get that far.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves bully romance. If you have triggers in regards to bullying or suicide I caution you, it is part of the main plot. However, it is worth the read. I look forward to reading and reviewing the next books in the series.

I’m actually sort of surprised that I liked this book. When I was reading the reviews, they weren’t very good so I was kind of nervous. I started it anyway because I’ve loved all of the C.M. Stunich books that I’ve read so far. The book was great! Parts of it were a bit unrealistic; like the boys being completely ripped and having so many tattoos. Marnye annoyed me a bit because she forgave the boys way too easily in my opinion. Other than those things, it was really good and I don’t regret reading it. Now I’m going to start Bad, Bad Bluebloods.
