I loved this one, it is possibly my favourite Tiffany Aching book, but rereads will have to determine that and I still have one to go. It just had a really, really good ending, so that helps a lot.
Now, if I'm honest, objectively, this could have been a four star. As much as I love Discworld, Sir Terry does sometimes get a bit too much into his satire and social commentary that the plot starts to drag and he also sometimes tries to put a bit too much into one book, including this one. The Ank-Morpork section went on for far too long, the Wee Mad Arthur subplot serves no purpose at all and there seems to be a bit of an inconsistent tonal shift from the beginning to the end of the book.
So this wasn't perfect, but the good bits were major and the bad bits mostly minor (I really, REALLY would have liked a bit more of Preston & Tiffany though), so this skews to a five star for me. I just really enjoyed it, am sad that it is over and look forward to reading it again. At the end of the day, what more can you ask of a book?

Did not finish. The appearance of shrill religious fundamentalists ruined the escapism of it for me to an extent that even the Wee Free Men could not recover. I guess also that I am just not cut out to be a witch either but I started chafing at the idea that 'witches' as Tiffany gets older are less about magic and more about doing unpaid underappreciated unrespected care labor that all women everywhere are compulsively forced to do the world over. I think Pratchett meant to pay this kind of work due respect but again, too much realism that goes against the purpose of why I started this series.
