Could not finish! Why do writers have to make women characters so stupid.

Actual rating 3.5 stars

I am still in two minds about this book if I'm totally honest. Yes it is a gripping thriller, I honestly went back and forward a lot with my theories. However pretty early on I guessed who the protagonist was, and combined with the fact I honestly didn't like the ending my rating is lower than I had first hoped.

The way the story is told is really well done. The various characters we meet along the way are all written very well. The author weaves their stories together in such a way you will find yourself second guessing your theories while reading the story, and having a love/hate relationship with more than a few of them. Although I did guess who the protagonist was, I didn't guess the exact nature of why they were doing everything.

As I said above, I really didn't like the way the story ended. In my mind the ending leaves the story open for something more to come in the future, and I am hopeful that the author may provide that. If this is the way the author intends to leave the story then I'm definitely left feeling a little disheartened. I do like either a happy ending or one where the 'bad guy' gets what's coming to them. I won't say anymore for fear of letting something slip, but please remember this is purely my opinion and I know that other reviewers loved the ending. The beauty of a story is that people can read the same book and feel totally differently about it.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

I received the ebook in exchange for an honest review on Netgalley.

Wow, this is a bonegripping thriller. The whole it was clear to me who was the bad guy, but I was still at the top of my seat reading this story. It is a very dangerous and anxious story.

It is obvious who is causing all the chaos so the end is not a surprise. The book abruptly ends however, leaving the reader feeling very unsatisfied.

That ending knocked me for six and I'm left with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. Possibly also trust issues.

This is one of those books where you can guess early on who is behind it all but still get totally engrossed in how the story plays out. The whole time I was screaming at the main character in my head to just check this and look at that and she would see! And that ending, oh my god!
